PURPOSE: A headrest ascension apparatus is provided to protect an occupant from being damaged caused by a distortion of roof panel that occurs in a vehicle upset accident by adopting an ascension system of a headrest applying a gear manner for offering stability. CONSTITUTION: A headrest ascension device includes a switching module(10) for preparing upset accident, a wheel speed sensor(11), a bracket(18), an operational gear(18), an ECU(electronic control unit), an occupant sensor(12), a relay switching module(14), a motor(15) and primary and secondary worm gears(16,17), a fixing bracket, a rotatable bar(20), a guide member(21) and a headrest(22). The relay switching module(14) performs a relay switching action depending on a control action of the ECU(13) and feeds power to the motor inside the seatback. The motor rotates and drives the secondary worm gear(17) by the fixing bracket integrally connected thereto. An operational gear(19) is interlocked and a gear mount is processed in an inner face. The rotatable bar(20) performs an ascending motion along the guide member(21) fixed on a top of the seatback. The headrest fixed on a top of the rotatable bar(20) restrains the distortion of the roof panel for protecting an occupant seated in interior of the vehicle.
