Telomerase inhibitors containing as the active ingredient porphyrin derivatives represented by general formula (I), N-(lower alkyl)-substituted derivatives thereof (wherein the lower alkyl is located on the nitrogen atom of the pyrrole ring of the porphyrin ring) or metal coordinates thereof or pharmacologically acceptable salts thereof: (I) wherein R<1>, R<2>, R<3>, R<4>, R<5>, R<6>, R<7> and R<8> are the same or different and each represents hydrogen, formyl, optionally substituted lower alkyl, optionally substituted lower alkenyl, carboxy, optionally substituted lower alkoxycarbonyl, CONR<9>R<10> (wherein R<9> and R<10> are the same or different and each represents hydrogen or optionally substituted lower alkyl), sulfo, lower alkoxysulfonyl or cyano. <IMAGE> |
