PURPOSE: A structure of a pillar trim is provided to minimize injury on the head of an occupant by effectively absorbing a shock energy applied to a rear pillar in a lateral collision or an overturn of a vehicle. CONSTITUTION: A shock absorbing member(2) includes four compartments via five ribs(6a-6e), and a right end thereof is formed with a long rib(8a). The ribs are formed perpendicular to a pillar panel, and the uppermost and lowest ribs(6a,6e) of the five ribs are formed in a step shape. The five ribs form an irregularity along the inner faces of a pillar trim(4) and the pillar panel. Between the uppermost rib and the second rib(6b) and between the lowest rib and the fourth rib(6d), planar faces toward the pillar trim are formed. On the planar faces, holes(12a,12b) are formed for thermal bonding of the pillar trim. Two lengthwise ribs(8b,8c) are formed near the right ends of the pillar trim and the pillar panel in an angle of 45 degrees to a collision direction. A shock applied to the pillar trim face and the shock absorbing member is concentrated in the lengthwise ribs. As the shock is applied from the direction in 45 angular degrees, shock absorbing performance is improved. The shock is dispersed to the other ribs, and a damping force is operated between the shock absorbing member and the pillar panel.
