PURPOSE: A polyetherimide silicate hybrid and its preparation method are provided, to improve the mechanical properties, the thermal resistance and the fire retardancy. CONSTITUTION: The polyetherimide silicate hybrid is prepared from the aliphatic polyetherimide which is prepared by using 4,4'-(3,4-dicarboxyphenoxy)diphenylsulfidebis(etheranhydride) unit and aliphatic diamines; and the organically modified layered silicate which is the organized one of montmorillonite and fluorohectorite, wherein an organizing agent is alkylammoniums whose number of carbons is 12-18. The 4,4'-(3,4-dicarboxyphenoxy)diphenylsulfidebis(etheranhydride) unit is prepared by using 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenylsulfide and N-methyl-4-nitrophthalimide. The method comprises the steps of preparing the aliphatic polyetherimide by using 4,4'-(3,4-dicarboxyphenoxy)diphenylsulfidebis(etheranhydride) unit and aliphatic diamines; preparing the organically modified layered silicate from montmorillonite and fluorohectorite by using the organization agent; mixing 80-99 wt% of the aliphatic polyetherimide and 1-20 wt% of the organically modified layered silicate; and annealing the mixture at 150-170 deg.C under vacuum.
