PURPOSE: A television capable of informing a watching channel using a telephone is provided to transmit a message informing the channel currently active when a predetermined digit in input by way of the telephone. CONSTITUTION: The television capable of informing the watching channel using the telephone includes a digit detector(44) and a controller(12). The television includes a tuner(18), a voice processor(22), an image processor(28), a last memory, a modem(42), a voice IC and a signal converter(48). The digit detector detects the digit signal which is applied by way of the modem when a receive mode is determined by the modem. The controller transmits the voice guidance message on the currently watching channel to a transmit subscriber based on channel information on the last selected channel stored in the last memory when the digit signal detected at the digit detector is same to the digit predetermined for channel guidance. The last memory stores the information on the channel selected at the last time. The modem demodulates a voice signal transmitted from PSTN with response to the arbitrary transmit subscriber manipulation and determines the receive status of a tone. The voice IC generates a voice signal from the information stored in the last memory. The signal converter converts the signal from the voice IC to a signal which is to be processed in the modem.
