PURPOSE: A gear train of a 4 speeds automatic transmission for a vehicle improves a shift quality by making an asynchronous speed change at 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4 gear changes. CONSTITUTION: An automatic transmission having very short length is designed by applying of a combined planetary gear set assembled to a radial direction. Thus, the transmission is easily adapted to a transversally disposed front drive vehicle. Especially, the transmission implement an asynchronous speed changes at 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4 gear changes, thereby improving the shift quality thereof. Therefore, the control of friction members becomes easy.
