PURPOSE: An impact beam and a producing method thereof are provided to reduce weight, to improve shock resistance and shock absorbing performance and to make manufacture easy. CONSTITUTION: A recessed part(16) in accordance with lengthwise direction of a beam is formed in the middle of a front wall(11) of an impact beam(10). End walls of first and rear walls(14,15) formed by being bent from rear ends of upper and lower walls (12,13) of the impact beam are overlappingly bonded with a bottom wall(16a) of the recessed part. The overlappingly bonded part of the front and rear walls is placed near the center of gravity of the impact beam section. In a collision, a shock is promptly and uniformly transmitted to the entire walls of the beam through the upper, lower and rear walls. Therefore, excellent shock resistance is realized.
