PURPOSE: A continuously variable transmission for a rear wheel drive vehicle implements the optimum driving of an engine by enlarging the range thereof, thereby minimizing a power loss and improving an initial accelerating performance. CONSTITUTION: A continuously variable transmission for a rear wheel drive vehicle comprises an accelerating device(2), a first and a second speed changing devices(20,22), a continuously variable transmission device(3) and a drive shaft(50). Thus, the optimum driving of a vehicle is implemented by enlarging the range of the transmission. Therefore, an initial accelerating performance is improved, a power loss is minimized and the transmission is easily adapted to a large vehicle and a rear wheel drive vehicle.
