PURPOSE: A field emission display device is provided to optimize a state of luminance by changing automatically luminance of a display. CONSTITUTION: An anode electrode is formed on one side of the first substrate. A cathode electrode is formed on one side of the second substrate. An insulating layer is formed on a surface of the cathode electrode. A gate electrode is formed on the insulating layer. A cathode tip is penetrated into the gate electrode and the insulating layer. A luminance control circuit portion, is formed on a printed circuit board, measures the amount of light. And by result of the luminance control circuit, a voltage application circuit portion applies corresponding voltages to the anode electrode, the cathode electrode, and the gate electrode.
