PURPOSE: A method for detecting mis-operation of a hall sensor is provided to reduce a cost for hardware design and to prevent breakage of an engine and abnormal increase of exhaust emission by warning a driver of mis-operation of a hall sensor simply with software. CONSTITUTION: A detection method of mis-operation of a hall sensor comprises the steps of: detecting if a signal of a hall sensor is in an on state via an engine control unit; counting the number of signals of a crank position sensor if the signal of the hall sensor is an on signal; comparing the counted number with a reference value; and deciding mis-operation of a hall sensor if the values are not the same and lighting on a warning lamp. Therefore, a driver recognizes mis-operation of the hall sensor.
