PURPOSE: A gearshift lever assembly is provided to enhance the manipulation of a gearshift lever by reducing clearance in a neutral range with return power applied from both sides of the gear lever. CONSTITUTION: A gearshift lever assembly for a vehicle contains a gearshift lever(1); an assembly bracket(3) supporting the gearshift lever for a gear selection and a gear shift; and a first and a second return device elastically supporting the both sides of the gearshift lever by being symmetrically placed between both sides of the gear lever and the assembly bracket for fixing the gearshift lever in a neutral range. Herein, a first retainer(5) and a first elastic member(7) are used as the first return device and a second retainer(9) and a second elastic member(11) are used as the second return device. Thus, the gearshift lever assembly reduces clearance with the first and the second return device for the better manipulation of the gearshift lever.
