[Also in Group XXXI] The number of forward and reverse speeds of the walk-type tractor described by the parent Specification is increased by providing an intermediate device between the power input and output shafts of the change-speed device. The device consists of two gear-wheels 191, 192 slidably splined on the shaft 15 and which may be displaced selectively to mesh with gear-wheels 201, 202, respectively, on the shaft 21, displacement being effected by forks 193, 194 mounted on rods 195, 196 having notches 195a, 196a for selective engagement by a plate 198 on a handle 197. To provide space for the device, the cams for operating the wheel clutches are mounted on coaxial shafts 48d instead of on spaced parallel shafts.
