848,282. Tubular heat exchangers. HUET, A. April 30, 1958 [May 21, 1957; May 31, 1957]. No. 13786/58. Class 64(3) In a heat exchanger comprising a casing k containing a plurality of tubes a interconnecting two headers c, d, the middle portions of the tubes extend parallel with the longitudinal axis of the casing and have external longitudinal fins b, the tube ends are curved to absorb expansion differences, and the ends of the casing incorporate connections n for the external fluid and sockets o through which pass tubes i<SP>1</SP>, i<SP>2</SP> and q<SP>1</SP>, q<SP>2</SP> carrying the internal fluid to and from the headers c, d, a part of the tubes q<SP>1</SP> q<SP>2</SP> being coiled as shown to permit relative expansion. The apparatus may be disposed vertically (as shown) or horizontally and the heat exchanging fluids may flow in countercurrent or cocurrent directions. The headers c, d may be interconnected by a tubular stay-bar p to ensure alignment. Emptying of the headers c, d, is ensured by the provision of drain tubes (Fig. 3, not shown). |
