The invention concerns a grounding and shorting pliers device for bare cable conductors of overhead electric lines, which comprises an automatic release system for the coupling unit (11) of the device, wherein the release of the pliers is obtained only at the moment in which the bare cable conductors (16) are correctly inserted into said pliers. For this purpose, each of the pliers - comprising a body (1) and a movable jaw (3) formed by two articulated portions, the first portion (3A) being pivoted on said body (1) and being urged into a closing position towards said body by spring means (4) - is equipped with an oscillating lever (5) apt to engage the head (10) of the pin (9) of the coupling unit (11) of the device, said lever (5) comprising at one end a tooth (15) caused to cooperate with said head (10) by a release spring (7) carried by an extension (5A) of said lever (5), while the other end (17) of said lever is arranged so as to be engaged by the conductor (16) inserted into the pliers between said body (1) and the second articulated portion (3B) of said movable jaw (3). |
