Method and apparatus for heating a flowing ionic fluid

The liq. is circulated through an elongated enclosure (3) having identical electrodes (4,5) at its inlet (6) and outlet (7). An AC voltage of e.g. 5 kV is generated (8) and applied between two perforated discs (15) in which the number and size of the holes depends upon the viscosity and rate of flow. At its centre the enclosure is constricted to a narrow tube (9) whose cross section is calculated for the desired rate of flow and duration of passage.
