The invention relates to a method for tolerating defective data in a communications system with at least one transmitter and at least one receiver which communicate with each other. The invention is characterised in that when a write error or a read error occurs with the temporary data that are stored in a non-volatile memory of a data support, initial values or pre-set values are used for the transmitter or the receiver instead of an error message or the defective temporary data. This enables the communication between the transmitter and the receiver to be continued.
