<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the stability of a tape in a region by that a tape moves on an interface region to generate a state of pressure below the ambience and a passing magnetic tape is bent or deformed to enter into a cavity. SOLUTION: Flat regions 62, 64, 44A, 46A, read/write elements 74, 76 and a cavity 78 having a depth of about 0.5-20μm define an interface region 81 extending between edges 84, 85. A spontaneous state of pressure below the ambience over the entire interface region 81 is generated by moving a tape 52. Once such a spontaneous state of pressure below the ambience is generated, the tape 52 slightly matches with the cavity 78 when passing by the read/write elements 74, 76. When the tape 52 is slightly deformed or bent 94, a structural unity is ensured against flutters and other unstable factors along the interface region 81 of a magnetic head assembly 50.</p> |
