PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical fiber amplifier which is capable of keeping a delay time between an input and an output constant by controlling. SOLUTION: An optical fiber amplifier 10 is equipped with an optical coupler 13, an amplifying optical fiber 14, and a regulating optical fiber 15 on a signal light route that extends from an input terminal 11 to an output terminal 12, where an exciting light source 16 is connected to the optical coupler 13. The regulating optical fiber 15 is used as a delay time regulating means that regulates a delay time which occurs in signal light that travels from the input terminal 11 to the output terminal 12. That is, the regulating optical fiber 15 is adjusted in length so as to permit a time delay that occurs in signal light which travels from the input terminal 11 to the output terminal 12 to be set at a required value, and the regulating optical fiber 15 becomes shorter in length with an increase in the length of the amplifying fiber 14. |
