PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ultraminiature X-ray source allowing utilization as a small radiation source for radiotherapy within a blood vessel, for cancer therapy or the like. SOLUTION: This ultraminiature safe X-ray generator having durability, capable of replacing an X-ray source for radiotherapy within a blood vessel or a small radiation source for cancer therapy, and easy to treat has a coaxial flexible cable of 2 mm diameter or less wherein a core wire (a conductor within the coaxial cable) 5 is covered with a soft formed 'Teflon (R)' insulator 7 or the like; a cold cathode 6 operated by a short high-voltage pulse, having a sharp point for strengthening electron emission; a getter part 13; and a chamber 12 accommodating them capable of keeping a high vacuum. A superhigh- speed pulse causes a plasma discharge with plasma discharge gas sealed in the chamber 12 to generate X-rays. In the ultraminiature X-ray generator, a fiberscope and the X-ray source using the flexible cable can be used together, or integrated and used. |
