PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To quickly and accurately analyze a remote control signal received by each reception section when a plurality of reception sections for the remote control signal are provided to receive the remote control signal from various directions. SOLUTION: A capture control section 4, capture registers 5, 6 and a free running counter 7 of a microcomputer 3 decode remote control signals S1, S2 received nearly simultaneously by light receiving sections 1, 2. Contents of the decoded signals are checked and a signal with higher order of priority (e.g. a stop signal, in the case of a VTR, from among the stop signal and a play signal or the like) is validated.
