<p>A monovalent inactivated EHV-1 vaccine which provides protection against respiratory diseases associated with EHV-1 and EHV-4 comprising an EHV-1 virus represented by strain AB 69 which is designated as ATCC VR-2581. The vaccine is prepared by infecting a susceptible cell line from equines with EHV-1 virus, allowing the virus to grow in a growth-supporting media until a significant CPE is produced, harvesting the media containing the EHV-1 virus, dead cells, cell debris and infected cells to produce a harvest material, inactivating the harvest with beta propiolactone, or formalin or binary ethylenimine, and adjuvanting the inactivated harvest material selected from polymers, oils, aluminium salts, cytokines, and immunodmodulators.</p> |
