WALKING SENSATION GENERATING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a walking sensation generating apparatus which enables a pedestrian to walk in arbitrary directions and enables the pedestrian to walk and move in a large-scale virtual space. SOLUTION: When a pedestrian 2 walks on a belt mechanism 1 while viewing the images in the virtual space displayed on an image presentation device 7 or in an actual space, a CCD camera 4 picks up the images of reflection sheets 21 and 22 disposed at the tips of the toes and walking action are analyzed by a computer 9. When the walking of the pedestrian 2 in the arbitrary direction is detected, a triaxial walking plane maintaining mechanism 3 rotates the belt mechanism 1 and offsets the action in such a manner that the feet swung out diagonally forward of the pedestrian 2 lands always near the center in the lateral direction of a belt.
