PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent injection failure of a liquid crystal and production of alignment defects in a liquid crystal device having a liquid crystal disposed between a pair of substrates by controlling the elastic const. in the plane direction of the liquid crystal device and the spring modulus in the thickness direction of the liquid crystal device to each specified value or larger. SOLUTION: A pair of substrates 1a, 1b are laminated at a specified distance between them and a liquid crystal 2 is disposed in the space between the pair of substrates 1a, 1b. The device is designed to satisfy the relation of G>=7.5 pN3 [mgf/μm] and E>=7.0 kgf/cm2, wherein N (inch) is the diagonal dimension of the image display area of the liquid crystal device P1,ρ(g) is the mass of the device per one inch diagonal line (namely, the mass in a square region having 1 inch diagonal line), G is the spring modulus (transverse spring modulus G) in the plane direction of the liquid crystal device P1, and E is the spring modulus (longitudinal spring modulus E) of the liquid crystal device P1.
