METHOD AND DEVICE FOR OUTPUTTING HIGH DEFINITION STILL PICTURE TO DISPLAY DEVICE AND IMAGE PICKUP UNIT USING THEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly maintain the relationship of scanning lines by suppressing the disturbance due to line flickers to a minimum at the time of displaying a still picture on a display device compatible to a normal tevevision signal. SOLUTION: The video signal of a high definition still picture which consists of scanning lines that are divided into (k) pieces of fields in the vertical direction is stored in this device. In this device, an (2m-1)th field is started from the mth field and scanning lines are selected for every (k) and a 2mth field is started from the (k/2+m)th field, and scanning lines are selected for every (k) by making m (1<=m<=k/2; m is an interger) start from 1 and by making it proceed one by one every two fields based on a synchronizing signal. Rearrangement are selected for every field. Thus, the disturbance due to line flickers at the time when the high definition still picture is outputted to an interlacing display device can be suppressed to a minimum.
