PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophotographic photoreceptor superior in durability against abrasion and occurrence of scratches and the like on a surface layer and capable of keeping images high in quality in high humidity and freed of rise of residual potential and deterioration of sensitivity and surface resistivity in repeated uses, and to provide the process cartridge and the electrophotographic apparatus each using it. SOLUTION: The surface layer of the electrophotographic photoreceptor contains a compound obtained by hardening a colloidal silica and an organic silicon-modified hole transfer compound represented by the formula in which A is a hole transfer group: Q is a hydrolizable or hydroxy group; R2 is an optionally substituted monovalent hydrocarbon group; R3 is an optionally substituted alkylene or arylene group; (m) is 1, 2, or 3; (l) is a positive integer; and R2 is a monovalent hydrocarbon group directly combined with the silicon atom, and preferably, having 1-15C, and it is embodied by methyl, ethyl, propyl, butyl, and pentyl groups and the like.
