PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device without display unevenness and having excellent display characteristics. SOLUTION: The substrate for a liquid crystal display device is constructed with spacers to control a gap between itself and a substrate for the liquid crystal display device confronted with it. In this case, the substrate is provided with spacers of which the A point, defined as its difference in deformationαto be <=0.5μm in the case pressure is constant and temperature is varied±5 deg.C and besides the difference in deformationβto be <=0.5μm in the case temperature is constant and pressure is varied±0.05 kgf/cm2 with respect to the substrate surface, exists in the range of 100-170 deg.C and 0.2-1 kgf/cm2 with respect to the substrate surface.
