ATM COMMUNICATION METHOD AND ATM EXCHANGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an asynchronous transfer mode(ATM) communication method, with which reliability of cell transmission can be improved by reducing the possibility that a call is aborted, regardless of the output priority cell. SOLUTION: In this ATM communication method, a cell monitor section 20 detects the presence/absence of traffic violation and a cell loss priority(CLP) indication bit value of an ATM cell received from an input channel and provides output priority to the ATM cell, depending on the presence/absence of traffic violation and the cell loss priority(CLP) indication bit value ('0'/'1' and stores the resulting cell once to a buffer section 11, and the ATM cell stored in the buffer section 11 is read on the basis of the output priority.
