VOICE GATEWAY AND ITS PATH SELECTION METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance transmission quality by obtaining an accumulated delay time in terms of end-to-end in the case of call connection by a voice gateway that conducts voice transmission on the Internet, so as to select a proper path on the basis of the accumulated delay time. SOLUTION: A transmitter side voice gateway 10 requests connection reply information to a plurality of receiver side voice gateways 20 by means of an Internet protocol IP multicast (4), receives at least one set of connection reply information (6) in accordance with the request of the connection reply information from the receiver side voice gateways 20, the transmitter side voice gateway 10 obtains respective companding permissible processing times on the basis of at least one set of the connection reply information and controls so as to select a path that employs compression rule, where each companding permissible processing time is longer than the processing time of the compression rule.
