ACTIVE MATRIX LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE AND ITS MANUFACTURE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress deterioration of a liquid crystal layer caused by an electrochemical reaction generated by contact of an electrode with the liquid crystal layer via defective parts produced in an insulating film and a protective insulating film on the electrode of an active matrix liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: An organic substance layer 3 is formed on defective parts in an insulating film 4 and a protective insulating film 7 on an electrode 6 with electrolytic polymerization so as to suppress deterioration of a liquid crystal layer 9 caused by an electrochemical reaction generated by contact of the electrode 6 with the liquid crystal layer 9. Thereby an active matrix liquid crystal display device of high picture quality is obtained which does not generate uneven brightness even after a long period of utilization.
