PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooler which is provided with a Stirling refrigerating machine allowing the defrosting of a heat exchanger and a means to prevent the frosting of the body thereof. SOLUTION: There are arranged first piping 11a through which a heat medium of a liquid is circulated between a cooling part 8 for generating cold of a Stirling refrigerating machine 9 and a cooler 10 for the heat exchange of the cold, and second piping 11b through which a heat medium of a liquid is circulated between a radiation part 6 for generating heat of the Stirling refrigerating machine 9 and a heat radiator 12 for the heat exchanger of the heat. As means for guiding the heat generated at the radiation part 6 to the cooler 10, a selector valve 13 is provided to guide the heat medium flowing through the second piping 11b to the first piping 11a when no cold is generated at the Stirling refrigerating machine 9.
