MAGNETIC DISK HAVING CrN THIN FILM AS COBALT MOBILE BARRIER

摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording medium based on cobalt which resolves the problem that cobalt atoms are picked up by a magnetic head. SOLUTION: This magnetic disk is constituted of a substrate 1 (a), base layer (b), magnetic recording layer based on cobalt (c), and cobalt barrier layer (d). The cobalt barrier layer is formed by sputtering a layer containing chromium to the magnetic recording layer under a sputtering environment in which argon(Ar) and nitrogen(N2) are contained at an Ar/N2 rate which is ranging from 100/0 to 15/85, desirably, from 85/15 to 55/45.
