ADAPTIVE POST-PROCESSING UNIT AND ADAPTIVE POST- PROCESSING METHOD FOR VIDEO DATA

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extracts additional characteristics from intermediate decoded data of a video decoder and a bit stream for effective and adaptive post- processing for the video data. SOLUTION: This processing unit consists of a characteristic extract section 103, a post-processor 108, and a buffer 105. The characteristic extract section 103 retrieves data from a video decoder 101 to extract characteristics of post- processing. The post-processor 108 uses information on the post-processing characteristics to process video data decoded by the video decoder 101 to acquire a desirable video output result. The buffer 105 stores the post-processing characteristics before they are used by the post-processor 108.
