PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chip-type thermistor, the resistance value of which can be adjusted easily with accuracy, after the thermistor is formed in a chip-like shape and a method for correcting the resistance value of the thermistor. SOLUTION: A chip-type thermistor is provided with an elemental thermistor body 2, first and second surface electrodes 3 and 4, which are formed on one surface 2a of the elemental body 2 in such a way that one ends of the electrodes 3 and 4 face each other, and the other ends are respectively extend toward the end sections of the body 2, and first and second external electrodes 8 and 9 which are respectively electrically connected to the electrodes 3 and 4 and formed at end sections of the body 2. The surface electrodes 3 and 4 are formed in laminated structures, by respectively laminating pluralities of layers 3a-3c and 4a-4c composed of different electrode materials upon another, and one ends of the electrodes 3 and 4 are formed step-like, so that the distances between the facing one ends of the layers 3a-3c and 4a-4c widens toward upward. In addition, the electrodes 3 and 4 are provided with insulating layers 5 and 6 which cover the electrodes 3 and 4, except for the step-like one-end sections.
