PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain communication using an F code even when a modem of the title facsimile terminal acts like a FAX modem by using a number string in a caller number information in succession to an identifier for a SEP/PWD when the modem is operated as the FAX modem and dialing a destination number indicated in the number string in the caller number information up to the identifier so as to conduct polling reception attended with notice of the SEP/PWD. SOLUTION: The facsimile machine 1 is adaptable to facsimile communication attended with notice of the F code. When the caller side facsimile machine 1 dials a number of a destination machine being a called party and establishes a line, the caller sends a call tone to indicate the arrival of the call to the called party and the called party uses a called station identification signal to reply the call. Then the caller sends a digital transmission instruction signal, a non-standard function setting signal and a transmission machine identification signal to the called party in response to a digital identification signal, a non-standard function identification signal and a called party terminal identification signal sent from the called party. In the case a sub address is designated before making dialing, the caller transmits a sub-address signal in an information field to the called party.
