NUCLEAR FUEL PELLET AND FUEL ROD CHARGING THE FUEL PELLET

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide nuclear fuel pellets which are optimized in dimensions including the production process of nuclear fuel pellets. SOLUTION: Nuclear fuel pellets 1 are constituted of cylinder bodies with diameter D and length L and on each of the upper and lower end surfaces of the cylinder bodies, a chamfer 2 with dimension (a) in axial direction along the axis and dimension (b) in the radial direction perpendicular to the axis is formed on the periphery and a dish 3 with diameter (d) and depth (h) concentrically to the axis is formed. The diameter (d) of the dish is set at 70 to 78% of the diameter D of the cylinder body. The ratio a/b of the axial dimension (a) and the radial dimension (b) of the chamfer is in the range of 1/3 to 1/4 and the ratio L/D of the length L and the diameter D of the cylinder body is in the range of 1.3 to 1.5. The depth (h) of the dish is 0.22 mm or less.
