PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hybrid vehicle which is switchable between a parallel hybrid mode and a series hybrid mode. SOLUTION: An engine 150 is connected to a planetary carrier 123 of a planetary gear 120, a motor 130 is connected to a sun gear 121, and a motor 140 and an axle 116 are connected to a ring gear 122. A clutch 160 is installed between the planetary gear 120 and the motor 140 so as enable disconnection and connection of the planetary gear 120 and the motor 140. A brake 162 is installed to fix the ring gear 122, which the clutch 160 is disconnected. When the clutch 160 is connected, the vehicle is in a parallel hybrid mode. When the clutch 160 is disconnected and the ring gear 122 is fixed by the brake 162, the vehicle becomes a series hybrid mode. By switching the mode depending on the traveling condition of the vehicle, the vehicle can travel while utilizing the advantages of each mode. |
