PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To correctly recognize the functions of devices even when the respective devices have the same identification code and different functions by reading in revision IDs in registers of respective devices and recognizing the kinds of the devices. SOLUTION: A measurement board rack 20 is fitted with PCI devices (boards). A custom A board 15, a customer B board 16, and a custom C board 17 have different functions, but have the same identification code. The respective boards 15 to 17 are equipped with configuration registers and the identification codes for identifying the respective functions of the boards are written to the revision IDs in the registers. An intelligent input/output controller board 18 as a device driver reads in an revision ID. Consequently, the kind of a custom board can be decided even if the board kind can not be recognized from the device ID and vendor ID.
