PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce power consumption of a MODEM by generating an operating frequency in compliance with the communication standards and to display a communication available time obtained from a residual capacity of a battery. SOLUTION: A control section 2 of a MODEM 1 transmits the data of a power consumption table to a control section 7 of a portable terminal 6. Then the control section 7 calculates the communication available time in compliance with the communication standards on the basis of the power consumption and the residual capacity of a battery detected by a battery residual capacity detection section 8 and displays the time on a detection section 11. Furthermore, when communication connection is set up, an operating frequency decision section 4 decides an operating frequency required for communication through the communication standards used for the connection on the basis of an operating block frequency table, and an operating clock generating section 5 generates the decided operating frequency. On the other hand, when the communication standard data used for the connection are fed to the control section 7, the control section 7 again calculates the communication available time on the basis of the residual capacity of the battery and the power consumption corresponding to the communication standards and displays the time on the detection section 11. |
