PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner in which dirty indoor air can be caught and removed automatically regardless of the fact whether air conditioning operation is executed or not, cigarette smoke as well as dust can be removed and the living space can be kept constantly in comfortable state. SOLUTION: Upon elapsing a specified initializing operation time after starting operation of a contamination sensor 13, operation of an air cleaner 11 is controlled by comparing the detection results of the contamination sensor 13 with a reference value and the lowest values of detection results are stored during operation of the air cleaner 11. When the detection results of the contamination sensor 13 exceed the lowest values stored during previous operation of the air cleaner 11 after initializing operation, the lowest values are set as new reference values. |
