PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always push and press the central part of a reel brake member to execute a smooth brake releasing operation, to normally maintain a brake function as well and to make executable a sure braking operation without generating any trouble for handling, even if various shaped brake releasing members owing to the difference of the kind of device side machines are used, in a reel brake mechanism which stops the rotation of a pair of tape reels rotatably housed in a casing when it is not used. SOLUTION: A reel brake member 17 is provided with an opening hole part 70 into which a device side brake releasing member P is inserted, a guide recessed part 72 guiding the brake releasing member P is formed at the center of the abutting side wall part 71 of the brake releasing member P within the opening hole part 70, the guide recessed part 72 is formed at the central part of the opening hole part 70 in the direction vertical to the abutting side wall part 71 of the brake releasing member P and also the inner surface of the guide recessed part 72 is formed into a U shaped groove having a curved surface.
