A u-shaped void former, to be cast into a pre-cast concrete panel to make a u-shaped void location for a connector, comprises two leg portions 22 extending from a base portion 20, the base portion being elongated perpendicularly to each leg portion. Each leg may have locating means 25 extending from the end of the leg so that in use the locating means protrudes from the concrete panel. Figure 3 shows placement of three void formers on a casting surface preparatory to casting a pre-cast tilt-up panel, the formers aligned with dowelling bars 40.
