PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a radiation sensitive mixture which does not contain a diazonium compound, a heat- or acid-hardenable amino compound or a silver halide compound and unnecessitates an additional operation other than imagewise exposure and development, e.g. post-baking or post-exposure by using a specific anionic cyanine dye as an IR absorbing dye. SOLUTION: The radiation sensitive mixture contains an organic polymer binder insoluble in water but soluble or swellable in an aqueous alkali solution and an anionic cyanine dye of the formula as an IR absorbing dye. The cyanine dye contains 2-4 sulfonate, carboxylate and/or phosphonate groups but does not contain >=3 sulfonate groups. In the formula, (n) is 2 or 3, R1-R8 are each H, halogen, sulfonate or the like, R9 and R10 are each linear or branched 1-6C alkyl or the like, Z1 and Z2 are each sulfur or the like and X is a cation. |
