<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode-ray tube for multimedia which is capable of displaying separate areas for fuctions of multimedia continuously without interrupting a broadcast picture and is capable of displaying a general broadcast picture whose aspect ratio is 4:3 and a widebroadcast picture whose aspect ratio is 16:9 change over of which is possible without reducing and distorting the picture by using one cathode-ray tube. SOLUTION: In the cathode-ray tube, a panel 4 includes an effective picture part 16 consisting of a broadcast picture part 18 which is divided with a prescribed ratio and an additional picture part 20 and the aspect ratio of the effective picture part is made to be 3/4 to 9/16, and the panel selectively realizes a first mode displaying the general broadcast picture, whose aspect ratio is 4:3, and additional pictures simultaneously, and a second mode displaying the widebroadcast picture, whose aspect ratio is 16:9, and the additional pictures simultaneously by adjusting the arrangement state and the size of the additional picture part 20 on the part of a user.</p> |
