PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optionally change and set a focusing range, and to shorten a time required for an AF operation. SOLUTION: This focal point adjusting mechanism has a manual range ring 24 for conducting a rotation operation manually; a rectilinear ring 13 advancing and retreating in an optical axis direction by the manual rotational operation of the range ring 24; a focusing lens holding ring 14 screwed in the ring 13 to hold a focusing lens group; and a focusing mechanism for driving the focusing lens holding ring 14 in the optical axis direction with respect to the ring 13.
