PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the power consumption of a stabilized DC power source while a load is in a standby mode. SOLUTION: In a stabilized DC power source 1, a current detecting circuit 14 discriminates whether or not a load L is in a standby mode based on a load current IL and an on/off circuit 13 receives the output of the circuit 14 via an indicating circuit 16, and while the load L is in a standby mode, it stops the power supply to a control circuit 12 of an output element 11. Since the control circuit 12 controls the output element 11 so as to compensate the fluctuation, etc., of a load current IL, the circuit 12 is realized by using a high-accuracy high-speed circuit, and accordingly, the power consumption of the circuit 12 is large. When the power source 1 is constituted in this way, the power consumption of the power source 1 can be reduced, while the load L is in the standby mode because the control circuit 12 which consumes a large quantity of power is stopped. |
