PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent base-material lenses from being deformed and to enable accurate measurement by providing both a device for measuring the thickness of the edge of a lens and a device for measuring the diameter of a spectacles lens, and performing diameter measurement by the lens diameter measuring device prior to the measurement of the thickness of the thinnest edge by the edge thickness measuring device. SOLUTION: A device 28A for measuring the thickness of the edge of a lens of spectacles and a device 28A for measuring the diameter of a lens are both provided and constituted so as to measure the thickness of the edge of a lens during the measurement of the diameter of the same lens. Diameter measurement by the lens diameter measuring device 28B is performed prior to the measurement of the thickness of the edge by the edge thickness measuring device 28A. Then a measured value of diameter at any location of measurement by the lens diameter measuring device 28B and a radius vector length at a location corresponding to the location of measurement among measurement information around the optical center of the frame of the spectacles lens are compared with those prior to the measurement of the thickness of the edge at any location after diameter measurement at any location, and a probe 52 is separated from a lens W when the former measured value of diameter is smaller than the latter radius vector length.
