The method involves forming a web of mineral fibres (2) with a curable binder, curing the mineral fibre web and cutting one or more pipe sections from the finished cured product. The mineral fibre web is longitudinally compressed before being cured. Pipe sections (6) are cut from the cured mineral fibre product so that the longitudinal axis of the pipe section is generally perpendicular to the direction of the longitudinal compression.
