PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a PTC thermistor with a high trip temperature, small variations, and good heat cycle resistance character despite of high electric resistance of a chip. SOLUTION: A conductive polymer layer 11 of n layers (n is an integer larger than 1, or preferably not less than two) and a metallic foil 12 of n+1 layers electrodes are stacked alternately, when taking t for the thickness of the thickest conductive polymer layer 11, G for the modulus of shearing elasticity of conductive polymer layer 11, D for an equivalent diameter represented by root square of (4×electrode area)÷π, the value of D×logG÷t is set to exceed 2000 while D is smaller than 50.
