PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a diagnostic apparatus capable of diagnosing with high accuracy the failure of equipment mounted on a moving body, while eliminating the influence of disturbing sounds. SOLUTION: This diagnostic apparatus includes a plurality of acoustic sensors 1-i disposed on a stationary system such as the ground along the moving direction of a moving body, a moving body detection device 4 for detecting the positional relationship between the moving element and each acoustic sensor 1-i, and a signal processing device 10 which determines whether or not equipment mounted on the moving body has failure in accordance with signals from each acoustic sensor 1-i. The signal processing device 10 averages the sum of signals from the acoustic sensors 1-i and diagnoses failure of the equipment on the basis of this average value.
