<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain an image to be of high quality, uniform and stable over a long period of time making the relationship between average spacing of recess and projection in the direction of rotation of a developer carrier and average spacing of recess and projection in the direction of a rotational shaft of the developer carrier to be a specific one. SOLUTION: In this developing device, the developer carrier 1, a toner feeding roll 2, a toner carrying member 3, a developer layer thinning member 4, a toner storing chamber 5 and one component toner 6 are provided. A thin layer of the toner is formed on a surface of the developer carrier 1 by the developer layer thinning member 4. This toner thin layer is made to travel relatively by being brought close to or into a pressure contact, that is in a sliding contact, with the photoreceptor 7 that is an electrostatic latent image carrier of an image forming device. The developer carrier 1 is formed by aluminum that is appropriate for abrasive blasting processing. The abrasive blasting processing is carried out on this developer carrier 1.
